This DIY all-purpose cleaner is non-toxic, vinegar-free, and safe for stone countertops!
Here’s the thing about DIYs I never used to understand: making your own products isn’t a frivolous hobby. It’s actually a really cool way to take matters into your own hands and control exactly what goes into your products. (It also saves a ton of money!) So that’s why I’m turning to them more and more. And as silly as it’s sounds, it’s a pretty empowering feeling. Take that, big business!
This cleaner couldn’t be easier to make! Many DIY all-purpose cleaners contain vinegar, which I normally love, but I’ve heard that vinegar can be tough on stone such as quartz (which we have in our bathrooms).
You will need:
- 1/4 cup castile soap (approximately)
- hot water
- spray bottle (about 1 litre, or a “standard size” spray bottle)
Method:
- Pour soap into spray bottle.
- Add hot water to the top.
- Carefully stir or shake to combine.
You can add essential oils if you like, but I kept it simple. This spray won’t disinfect, but it’s perfect for everyday cleaning of bathrooms and kitchens. When I use it, I spray surfaces, wipe them down, and then go over them with a damp cloth to remove any soap. It sounds deceptively simple but works amazingly well.
