I’m so excited to share with you a project that’s been in the works for a few months now: my own version of Fashion Week!
Over the last few months, I’ve received many requests for content about fashion. How bad is fast fashion, really? What about textiles and dyes; treatment of workers and ethical production; and diversity in the fashion industry? It’s enough to make your head spin! I originally planned to make a post about fashion, and then I realized that one post simply wouldn’t cut it, so I developed the concept of Fashion Week on my social media and blog. I’ve been working behind-the-scenes with bloggers and companies to bring you some great content and giveaways.
I’ve never really been one for fashion, and I rarely post fashion-related content. But just because fashion isn’t my passion doesn’t mean I haven’t participated in the horrible fast fashion system. I have. I bet you have too! But that’s okay, it’s time for all of us to do better.
To be completely honest, even a full week of content is nowhere near enough time to cover everything. There are people whose entire careers are spent discussing the ins and outs of the industry. However, I’m hoping that through the week, I’ll be able to share some of the biggest concerns, offer some tips for making better choices, and pass the mic to some wonderful people to learn more from. I’m nowhere close to being an expert on the subject, but I still think it’s important to talk about in a meaningful way, and help highlight the voices of others.
The series will begin next week, November 4. Every day will have two (yes, two!) posts on my blog and Instagram. Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Monday: Fast fashion, including an interview with Aja Barber
- Tuesday: Inclusivity and diversity, including an interview and giveaway with Tania Larsson
- Wednesday: Ethical production, including an interview and giveaway with Azura Bay
- Thursday: Textiles and dyes, including an interview and giveaway with Simply Merino
- Friday: Secondhand shopping, including an interview and giveaway with Turnabout Luxury Resale
[NOTE: these giveaways are now closed.]
Can you tell I’m excited? I really hope you love this series!
