Fave Find: Skin Essence Organics

Skin essence organics products

I’m officially back after a bit of a self-imposed mat leave. I was working right up to the last minute–my little one showed up the night after my last blog post was published. In fact, I remember finishing up a work email while breathing through contractions! Such is the life of a freelancer, haha.

I can’t believe how quickly the time flies–my little guy is four months old already, and the holidays are right around the corner. And speaking of which, I have a fantastic gift recommendation for the clean beauty product lover in your life (or … you know … for yourself). Plus, keep reading for a special discount code!

Skin Essence Organics is a Canadian, natural skin care line using organic, vegan, and gluten-free ingredients. I was contacted by them to try a few of their products, so although this is a sponsored post, all of the thoughts are my own, as always.

First up, the packaging is gorgeous, don’t you think? Clean and simple, these beauties would look lovely on any vanity or bathroom counter. But it’s more than just aesthetics. According to their website, “Each product is carefully made in small batches and contained in amber glass to ensure optimum purity and freshness.” Just like a bottle of extra-virgin olive oil, you know?

Because I have sensitive skin prone to redness and dryness, which has somehow gotten even worse post-baby (why is that–hormones?), I chose to try the Nurture Skin Softening Mask and the Nourish Facial Moisturizer.

Skin essence organics nurture maskThe mask is similar to some of the others I’ve reviewed in the past in that it’s a fine powder that can be customized to your individual concerns by adding the liquid of your choice to create a paste. Some of their suggestions include water, honey, and facial oil, although I’d also add to that list coconut water or aloe juice. This mask smells subtly sweet (must be the stevia) and is very finely ground and soft to the touch. It definitely performed, leaving my skin noticeably softer and soothed after using.

Ingredients: Oat Powder, White Kaolin Clay, Chamomile Flowers, Stevia Leaf Powder

Skin essence organics nourish moisturizer

The facial moisturizer was pretty unique in its inclusion of zinc oxide. Although that means you have to shake it well before using, it offers some sun protection, which is pretty exciting for a facial oil if you’re a beauty product nerd like me. Non-nano zinc oxide is also considered to be the safest form of sun protection, so extra points there. I love that it has a base of jojoba oil, which is my personal favourite facial oil. It’s lightweight and perfect for any skin type, so this moisturizer didn’t feel heavy or greasy. Plus, the orange oil and neroli makes the scent bright and citrusy–lovely!

Ingredients: Jojoba Seed Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Orange Oil, Kukui Nut Oil, Neroli Flower Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin-E), Jasmine oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Zinc Oxide (Non-Nano)
